ZH-600T CNC Drilling and Tapping Center
Product Overview
The ZH-600T CNC Drilling and Tapping Center is engineered for high-efficiency drilling, tapping, spot-facing, light milling, and multi-step hole machining. With its compact machining range, 20,000 rpm direct-drive spindle, fast axis movement, and automatic tool-changing system, the machine is well suited to batch production of small and medium-sized precision components.
Its working travels of 600 × 400 × 300 mm provide sufficient capacity for electronic housings, aluminum plates, heat sinks, automotive brackets, fixtures, communication components, precision hardware, and appliance parts. Multiple operations can be completed in one controlled setup, reducing manual transfers and the positioning errors that often occur when parts move between separate machines.
The fully enclosed structure also keeps coolant and chips inside the machining area. This creates a cleaner workshop environment while improving process visibility and operator protection.
Designed for Faster Batch Production
Hole-intensive components can become a production bottleneck when they require repeated clamping, manual alignment, or frequent tool replacement. The ZH-600T addresses these problems through coordinated CNC movement, rapid tool changing, and stable workholding.
All three axes reach a rapid traverse speed of 48 m/min, helping shorten non-cutting movement between holes and machining positions. The cutting feed range of 1–10,000 mm/min allows the process to be adjusted for different materials, cutting tools, and feature requirements.
A 21-tool arm-type magazine supports automatic tool changes in approximately 1.8 seconds. Drills, taps, chamfering tools, and milling cutters can therefore be arranged within the same program. This makes the machine especially practical for repeat orders where a few seconds saved on each cycle can produce a meaningful gain across an entire shift.
High-Speed BT30 Direct-Drive Spindle
As a High Speed BT30 Drilling Tapping Center, the ZH-600T uses a direct-drive spindle powered by a 5.5 kW motor. Its maximum spindle speed reaches 20,000 rpm, while a 15,000 rpm configuration is available for production requirements that do not require the higher speed.
The direct-drive structure delivers responsive acceleration and stable spindle operation. It is particularly effective when machining aluminum parts with dense hole patterns, small tapped threads, pockets, and milled surfaces.
Compared with a heavier general-purpose machining center, the BT30 configuration is focused on agility. Faster spindle response and shorter tool-change time allow the machine to handle repetitive drilling and tapping work without unnecessary idle time.
Working Range and Table Capacity
The machine is equipped with a 700 × 420 mm worktable and three T-slots for mounting vises, standard fixtures, or customized workholding systems. Its maximum table load is 250 kg, while the recommended workpiece capacity is approximately 600 × 400 × 300 mm.

Machining Accuracy and Repeatability
The ZH-600T provides a positioning accuracy of ±0.005 mm per 300 mm and repeatability of ±0.003 mm per 300 mm. This supports consistent hole spacing, thread position, pocket dimensions, and machined profiles throughout continuous batch production.
Machine accuracy can be checked with a laser interferometer. Pre-acceptance trial cutting can also be arranged after assembly and commissioning at the supplier’s facility. Once the machine has been delivered, installed, and commissioned, final acceptance cutting can be performed using the agreed workpiece and inspection criteria.
This validation process gives buyers a clearer basis for evaluating the machine than relying only on catalog parameters.
Mitsubishi M80VB CNC Controller
The standard ZH-600T configuration uses a MITSUBISHI M80VB CNC controller. The system supports high-speed drilling, rigid tapping, milling programs, tool management, and automated production cycles.
Other controller options, including FANUC, Mitsubishi, and Siemens configurations, can be discussed according to the project. The most suitable control system usually depends on operator experience, programming preferences, local technical support, and compatibility with the buyer’s existing equipment.
Optional Fourth-Axis Machining
A fourth-axis interface is included as standard. An indexer or rotary table can be added when the workpiece requires side drilling, tapping, or milling.
For parts with features on several faces, the fourth axis can reduce manual repositioning and allow more operations to be completed in one clamping. This saves handling time and helps control the accumulated positioning error that can occur after repeated setups.
Materials Suitable for Machining
The ZH-600T can process several commonly used industrial metals, including:
- Aluminum alloys
- Copper alloys
- Carbon steel
- Low-carbon alloy steel
- Light metal structural materials
It is particularly suitable as a CNC Drilling Tapping Machine for Aluminum Parts. Typical aluminum applications include 3C mid-frames, electronic housings, valve bodies, heat sinks, communication components, aluminum plates, and small automotive brackets.
The final cutting performance will depend on the selected tooling, fixture rigidity, spindle speed, feed rate, coolant method, and workpiece geometry.

The machine is especially useful for components requiring numerous holes, threaded features, small pockets, milled surfaces, or several tools within one production cycle.
Automotive Aluminum Valve Body Application
In one published application, the workpiece was an ADC12 aluminum automotive valve body measuring 350 × 250 × 120 mm. The original machining process required approximately 15 minutes per component and suffered from frequent tool-change delays and inconsistent surface quality.
The ZH-600T solution combined a 20,000 rpm direct-drive spindle, 21-tool arm-type magazine, 1.8-second tool changing, and 48 m/min rapid traverse. According to the application data, the machining cycle was reduced to under eight minutes. Tool-change waiting time decreased by 70%, surface roughness stabilized at Ra 1.6, and the production yield increased from 92% to 98.5%.
